Central American artist who came
to Costa Rica at the beginning of the
80’s, even though he lived here
on interrupted times; his first arrival
was in 1976 when he was invited to
meet the engraving in metal with the
teacher Juan Luis Rodríguez
(1934) at the Plastic Art School, University
of Costa Rica. He has worked with drawing,
mixed techniques, lithography on marble,
artistic engraving, and he has participated
in experimental workshops of graphics
in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Colombia, El
Salvador, and Costa Rica. His recent
work is acrylic based, but he has used
other techniques.
He is defined as an artist “filled
with deep blues, sleeping reds, and shady
black”.
“He is not an ordinary artist. José David paints to communicate
with his deepest emotions and intuitions. He is intense and exceptional, in
a time in which plastic artists only want to impress.” He has over twenty
individual expositions and over thirty collectively.
Throughout his international career he
has received a new nickname from Honduras “Latin
American Walker”.
