He was born in Sant Esteve de Guialbes
(1957), a place in Catalunya (Spain).
Since he was young he was interested
in painting, getting his first impressions
from artist Joan de Palau. Later on
he took courses on drawing and painting
at Eina’s Art School in Barcelona.
He practices several techniques: oil,
acrylic, and watercolor.
Jordi Gimferrer (art collector and critique)
writes in his book De Solives
a Benet Costa, pintors (2002,
Banyoles, Barcelona) about Benet’s
watercolors: “He works the watercolors
in a very personal way, with plastic
intensity soberness; his watercolors
go from subtle mirages of lyric transparencies
to a border density with gouache; and
at the same time a final consistency
of high quality that perfectly holds
the painting”.
Benet Costa has exposed in different
cities of Catalan countries and France,
as well as Central America, mainly in
Costa Rica.
He has participated in several painting
contests, winning a variety of prizes
and distinctions: First Painting prize
from Pla de L’Estany, first painting
award of Sant Gregori.
Benet Costa with his sober and beautiful
colorfulness is an artist that honors
even more the gallery of Catalans talented
artists.
