Dinier Matamoros ( 1959, Costa Rica)


Dinier is an autodidact artist, he founded the group “La Puebla”, a group of Cartago’s plastic artists that in 1975 created an artistic movement with a social vision, its leader were a group of known painters: Fernando Carballo, Zulay Soto, Jorge Valverde, Luis F. Quirós.
He obtained two important national prizes at the contest “Costa Rica Young” in the years 1977 and 1978 as the first prize in the I Paint Hall at Cartago’s Municipality in 1993.
He is an artist that uses the graphic techniques, drawing and ink pen. His oils fill any room with a nice atmosphere and balance, just right for a craftsman. His big proportion women invite us to know them, always with symbolic objects such as bells, spheres, fruits, and iron piles; daily elements that show authentic visual conversations that the spectator enjoys with its lively color, transparent, and lyric.
His work can be found in important collections in the United States, Central and South America, and Europe.
